Adopted Measures for the Administration of Online Live Marketing (Trial Implementation) introducing content moderation requirements

On 23 April 2021, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) and six other state departments adopted the Measures for the Administration of Online Live Marketing (Trial Implementation) regulating the online live-streaming market. The Measures will enter into force on 25 May 2021. According to the Measures, live-streaming platforms shall formulate a blacklist of goods and services that are prohibited from production, sales and promotions. Further, the platforms shall conduct inspections to enforce the blacklist by removing content, keeping records and reporting to the competent authorities. Finally, the Measures set out rules on oversight and legal liability.
