Rejected Personal Data Protection Bill

On 3 August 2022, the Indian Government withdrew the Personal Data Protection Bill (2019) which had been pending in the House (Lok Sabha). The Bill included a comprehensive data protection regime and restrictions on international data transfers. In particular, the Bill would have introduced the right for individuals to access, correct, transfer and restrict the processing of their data.
