FTC files for preliminary injunction against Meta/Within Merger

On 27 July 2022, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed a lawsuit to block Meta’s planned acquisition of Within Unlimited and its fitness application Supernatural. The company Within designs and creates virtual reality applications. In its complaint, the FTC stated that the acquisition of Within would substantially lessen competition or create a monopoly in the virtual reality fitness applications market. The FTC seeks a preliminary injunction intended to give the agency time to issue an administrative complaint against the merger.
