FAS announces investigation into Google for alleged anticompetitive practices

On 19 April 2021, the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) opened an investigation into Google, YouTube’s owner, to determine if the entity is abusing its dominant position in the video hosting market. The FAS alleged that YouTube’s terms of service are not transparent. In particular, FAS claims that the rules regarding account suspension and content blocking are biased and that YouTube failed to issue warnings to users and justify its decisions to block or suspend accounts.
