Description

Introduced law to ensure the quality and durability of fiber optic electronic communications networks

On 19 July 2022, French Senator Patrick Chaize introduced a law to ensure the quality and durability of fiber optic electronic communications networks. The law standardizes the contractual relationship between the electronic communications operators and the final users. According to the law, the operators deploying the fiber networks would be obliged to grant certain standards of quality to the final users and to certify it with a certificate of conformity. Also, this change is supposed to allow providers to rely on fewer subcontractors. Finally, the law reinforces the powers of the Authority regulating the Electronic Communications (ARCEP).
