China: Cybersecurity Investigation into CNKI

On 24 June 2022, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) announced that it has opened a cybersecurity review of China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), the country's largest academic database. In making the announcement, the CAC stated that CNKI is thought to hold a large amount of personal information, information relating to industries important to the national interest, and sensitive information on scientific achievements.
