Introduced Data Protection and Digital Information Bill

On 18 July 2022, the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill was introduced in the House of Commons. The Bill would introduce requirements regarding the management of data security risks and remove the obligation for small businesses to appoint Data Protection Officers and conduct impact assessments. Furthermore, the Bill would increase the fines for violations of data protection regulations. Finally, it would change online cookie consent practices by adopting an in-browser opt-out model to reduce the number of opt-in boxes shown to users.
