Adoption of Financial Market Infrastructure Bill

The Financial Market Infrastructures Bill was adoped by both chambers of the New Zealand Parliament. It establishes a new regulatory framework for financial market entities including electronic payment providers. In the new framwork, the entities will be regulated joinlty by the NZ Financial Market Authority and the Reserve Bank. The joint regulators have the powers to request information and issue standards, among other duties.
