On 16 July 2021, the Greek Data Protection Authority opened an investigation into ClearviewAI's personal data collection practices, after receiving a complaint from Homo Digitalis, a Greek civil society association. In the complaint, it was noted that CrearviewAI failed to grant access to the data it stores after receiving a request from the plaintiff. Furthermore, it was alleged that ClearviewAI's personal data collection practices, including web-scraping techniques and image processing, violate the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
