On 5 July 2022, the European Parliament passed the regulation on a Single Market For Digital Services (DSA). The DSA aims to protect consumers against illicit content or services and protect their basic rights online. The passed DSA includes a prohibition on several types of targeted advertising, including "dark patterns" practices. In particular, online intermediary services are prohibited from nudging users and distorting their choices or decision-making autonomy via the structure, design or functionalities of an online interface.
