Description

Introduced Political BIAS Emails Act

On 15 June 2022, the Political Bias In Algorithm Sorting Emails Act (SB 4409 - Political BIAS Emails Act) was introduced in the US Senate. The Act aims to combat political bias by email platforms and ensure that emails are delivered without politically motivated filters. In particular, the Act would prohibit email platforms from using filtering algorithms that label emails from political campaigns, unless users decide to apply such a label. In addition, the Act would require email platforms to produce quarterly transparency reports, including a summary of the measures used to determine which emails from political campaigns to flag as spam.
