China: Public consultation opened for the interims rules for the management of personal information on mobile internet applications

On 26 April 2021, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has opened a public consultation for its draft interim provisions on the protection and management of personal information of mobile internet apps. The consultation period is one month until 26 May 2021. The draft interim provisions include user rights for the handling and storage of their data, which is based on the principle of minimum necessity, transparency requirements towards the user about the same and notification requirements for the transmission of personal data to third parties. Related obligations are applied to app store providers and third party app services.
