Description

Adopted Regulations on Clearly Marking Prices and Prohibiting Price Gouging

On 14 April 2022, China's State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) adopted the Regulations on Clearly Marking Prices and Prohibiting Price Gouging. The Regulations set out the conditions which have to be met for prices to be labelled clearly. They also define price gouging, prohibiting a number of practices associated with it, such as false discounts and bonus schemes or temporary significant price raises. The Regulations replace older rules formulated in 2000-2001, and will come into effect on 1 July 2022.
