Announced lawsuit against Amazon for unfair pricing strategy

On 25 May 2021, the Attorney General of the District of Columbia (DCAG) filed a lawsuit against Amazon.com and its "Fair Pricing Policy", claiming that the online retailer violated antitrust rules by pressuring third-party sellers to set lower prices for their items on Amazon than elsewhere. According to the DCAG, Amazon's alleged anticompetitive behaviour in expecting third-party vendors to offer the best pricing to its consumers is in fact raising prices for consumers, hindering innovation and illegally maintaining market power.
