Passed Louisiana Resolution on feasibility of cryptocurrency tax payments

On 25 May 2022, House Concurrent Resolution No. 104, requesting the Department of Revenue to study the feasibility of accepting virtual currency as payment of taxes, was passed by the Louisiana House of Representatives to the Senate. Specifically, the Resolution would urge the Department of Revenue to provide the House with a report of its findings, including potential legislative proposals, by 1 March 2024. The report should state suitable transactions for virtual currency payments, as well as identify additional costs and risks from accepting virtual currency for tax payments.
