Rejection of law regulating app stores including an obligation to fund local IT industry support foundation

On 16 November 2021, the Bill on Marketplace (N1015918-7) regulating app stores was rejected by the State Duma of the Russian Federation. The Bill would have introduced a limit of 20% to the commission that app store owners can impose when an app is purchased. Furthermore, the app store owners would have been obliged to transfer one-third of such commission to a special fund for training in the computer technology field.
