Description

DSK Guidance on Data Collection in E-Commerce adopted

On 24 March 2022, the German Conference of Independent Data Protection Authorities (DSK) issued its Guidance on data collection practices in the e-commerce sector. The Guideline highlights that data collected for transactions ought to be minimised, noting that e-commerce providers should collect only the data that is necessary to process the customer transaction. Furthermore, the DSK notes that e-commerce providers have to provide customers with the option of purchasing through a guest account, rather than requiring the creation of an individual user account.
