Introduced Digital Platform Commission Act

On 12 May 2022, the Digital Platform Commission Act was introduced to the US Senate. The Act aims to enhance oversight over digital platforms by establishing a commission consisting of five members, with the mandate to protect consumers, promote competition, as well as assure algorithm fairness and safety on digital platforms. The Commission would be enabled to impose penalties, conduct investigations, designate important digital platforms with specific obligations and promulgate new rules.
