Consultation opened regarding policy approaches to algorithm audits

On 28 April 2022, the United Kingdom Digital Regulation Cooperation Forum (DRCF) opened a consultation regarding future policy approaches concerning the audit of algorithms, closing on 8 June 2022. The DCRF, comprising the Competition and Markets Authority, Financial Conduct Authority, Information Commissioner’s Office and Office of Communications, aims to ensure safety in the online space by gathering views on how algorithms are used by sites and apps and how to audit algorithms, including the role of regulators. The aim of the DCRF is to develop an effective and proportionate approach to algorithm assessment to prevent biases, discriminatory decisions, the misleading of consumers and the distortion of competition.
