European Union: Closed European Central Bank consultation on a digital euro

On 12 January 2021, the European Central Bank (ECB) closed the public consultation on the digital euro. The ECB collected information on the benefits and challenges of issuing a digital euro and on its possible features. The inquiry focused on the reasons to issue a digital euro and its potential impact, legal implications, possible designs and organizational and technical choices.
