On 26 January 2022, the Hawaiian State introduced Data Processing Framework Bill (H.B. 2341). This bill outlines how data controllers shall handle sensitive user information and allow consumers to exercise the rights to data rectification, data deletion, data portability and opt-out from targeted advertising, sale of personal data and certain types of profiling activities. Additionally, it establishes the fines applicable when data privacy standards are not met by the data controllers. Finally, the bill outlines the creation of a "consumer privacy special fund" so that the execution of the regulatory standards can be processed well.
