Italy: Implemented Decree implementing EU Audiovisual and Media Services Directive including content moderation regulation

On 25 December 2021, the legislative decree of 8 November 2021 (nr. 208) enters into force. In particular, the decree extends certain audiovisual rules to video-sharing platforms and audiovisual content shared on social media services, introduces flexibility on restrictions applicable to TV, and strengthens the promotion of European content. Furthermore, it enhances the independence of national communication authority and reinforces the protection of children and the measures to tackle hate speech.
