Introduced Electronic Currency and Secure Hardware (ECASH) Act

On 28 March 2022, the Electronic Currency and Secure Hardware (ECASH) Act (HR 7231) was introduced in the US House of Representatives and Senate. The Bill would direct the issue of an electronic version of the US dollar. The electronic version would be required to provide the same security and functionality features as physical currency, as well as anonymity, privacy, and minimal data generation from transactions.
