On 22 March 2022, the Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence in the Digital Age (AIDA) of the EU Parliament released its final recommendations on artificial intelligence (AI) policy after its 18-months inquiry. The report states that the EU is lagging in the global race for technological leadership and includes a roadmap for the EU to become a global leader in AI. Besides ethical and legal challenges, the text highlights legislative choices that might harness AI's potential in improving health, innovation, labor markets as well as tackling environmental challenges.
