Adopted Bill No. 9712-8 establishing criminal liability for misinformation on Russian state bodies

On 23 March 2022, the Federal Council adopted the Adopted Bill No. 9712-8 establishing criminal liability for misinformation on Russian state bodies. The Bill amends Articles 8.32 and 20.3-3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation to expand the criminal liability for spreading information classified as false or misinformation regarding the work of Russian state bodies operating abroad, such as embassies, the National Guard, the prosecutor's office and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
