On 1 May 2026, the President of Indonesia issued Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026 on the protection of online transportation workers, establishing new protections for Indonesia's ride-hailing drivers. The regulation applies to online ride-hailing platform operators and requires them to reduce applicator fees to below 10 per cent whilst increasing the minimum driver income share from 80 per cent to 92 per cent. Platform operators are required to provide mandatory work accident insurance and Social Security Agency on Health (BPJS Kesehatan) health insurance for all drivers, with social security contribution discounts of up to 50 per cent available for non-wage workers.
