On 15 April 2026, the Lusophone Network for the Protection of Personal Data (RLPD) launched a platform intended to support cooperation among its members. The network was established through the Lisbon Declaration, signed by Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Portugal, and São Tomé and Príncipe. The Presidency is held by Brazil’s National Data Protection Authority (ANPD), and the Permanent Secretariat is assigned to Portugal’s National Data Protection Commission (CNPD). Macau was admitted as the sixth member during the III General Assembly on 8 April 2026. At the General Assembly in August 2025, three working groups were established, covering neurodata and international data transfers, biometrics and artificial intelligence, and video surveillance. The platform functions as the network’s main public interface and is intended to facilitate cooperation, dialogue, and information exchange among member jurisdictions.
