On 3 May 2026, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) closes the consultation on the draft Responsible Artificial Intelligence Policy. The draft Policy applies to all government bodies, the private sector, the non-profit sector, and individuals who develop, use, or publish applications or solutions based on AI technologies in Saudi Arabia. The draft Policy would prohibit users and content creators from creating, circulating, publishing, or promoting misleading or false content by any digital means. Users and content creators would also be prohibited from creating or promoting content intended to unlawfully influence or direct public opinion in a manner inconsistent with national values and orientations, whether directly or indirectly. Content creators would be required to notify users and relevant competent authorities when AI technologies, including deepfake tools, are used to produce content, with an explicit indication that the content is AI-generated. Users harmed by AI-generated content would be entitled to document digital evidence and notify the Authority to request content removal.
