Nigeria: Data Protection Commission extended deadline for compliance audit returns under Data Protection Act

On 1 April 2026, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) extended the filing deadline for the data protection compliance audit by 60 days. The extension applies to all data controllers and processors of major importance who are required to submit an annual compliance audit return under the Data Protection Act. It was stated that covered entities are now obligated to submit their returns by the new deadline of 30 May 2026.
