United States and Bangladesh adopted Agreement on Reciprocal Trade including source code transfer prohibition

On 9 February 2026, the United States and Bangladesh signed the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade. Under the Agreement, Bangladesh agrees to not require US persons to involuntarily transfer or provide access to a particular technology, production process, source code, or other proprietary knowledge as a condition of doing business in its territory. The Agreement includes a number of exceptions, such as government procurement, commercially negotiated contracts, and law enforcement investigations.
