Description

Competition and Consumer Protection Regulations including user rights entered into force

On 4 December 2025, the Competition and Consumer Protection Regulations, including user rights, entered into force. It provides consumers with a set of rights intended to protect them in the marketplace. These include the right to safety, which ensures protection against products or production processes that may pose risks to health or life, the right to information, requiring suppliers to provide clear, complete and accurate information about products so consumers can make informed purchasing decisions and the right to choose, allowing consumers to select from a range of quality products offered at competitive prices. Consumers also have the right to be heard and to redress, enabling them to lodge complaints and seek remedies when their rights are violated or when they suffer harm from unfair trade practices. In addition, the framework recognises the right to privacy, protecting the confidentiality of consumers’ personal information during transactions and product use, as well as the right to equality and fair dealing in the market, ensuring that suppliers treat consumers fairly and do not engage in deceptive, exploitative or discriminatory practices.
