Bill on Amendments to the Social Services Law and Certain Other Laws including additional powers for Information Technologies and Communication Authority was introduced to Grand National Assembly

On 4 March 2026, the Bill on Amendments to the Social Services Law and Certain Other Laws was introduced to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Article 22 would grant the Information Technologies and Communication Authority additional powers over social network providers. These powers include ordering content removal and access blocking, requiring risk assessments, and requesting information on algorithms, data processing mechanisms, and corporate structures. The Authority would also be able to impose bandwidth throttling of up to 90% in cases of non-compliance. Article 23 would authorise the Authority to require game providers and distributors to disclose information on their corporate structure, information systems, algorithms, data processing mechanisms, and commercial practices.
