Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution adopted Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Amendment including e-commerce country of origin filter mandate

On 13 February 2026, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (Department of Consumer Affairs) adopted the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Amendment Rules. These rules will require all e-commerce entities selling imported products to display these products in a searchable and sortable filter indicating the country of origin. The amendment will come into effect on 1 July 2026.
