Description

Introduced Data Care Act (S. 919) in US Congress

On 23 March 2021, the Data Care Act was introduced in the US Senate. The bill establishes data handling obligations for online service providers regarding individual-identifying data. Providers must ensure data security and refrain from harmful data uses. In addition, providers are prohibited from disclosing data to third parties that are not bound to the same duties. Finally, the bill empowers the Federal Trade Commission for enforcement.
