On 4 February 2026, Bill No. 309/2026 was introduced to the Chamber of Deputies. The Bill amends Law No. 15.211/2025 to prohibit access to social media networks of any nature by persons under 16 years of age. The Bill inserts Article 23-A into Law No. 15.211/2025, establishing that access to social media networks of any nature is prohibited for persons under 16 years of age. Non-compliance with Article 23-A is subject to the sanctions set out in Article 35 and its paragraphs of Law No. 15.211/2025. The Bill also amends Article 24 of Law No. 15.211/2025, requiring providers of products or services directed at or likely to be accessed by children and adolescents to ensure that user accounts of children and adolescents aged above 16 years are linked to the account of one of their legal guardians.
