On 10 February 2026, the European Commission approved Google's acquisition of Wiz under the EU Merger Regulation, finding no competition concerns in the European Economic Area. Google provides cloud infrastructure through Google Cloud Platform and offers cloud security services, while Wiz offers a cloud-native application protection platform that secures applications across multiple cloud environments. The Commission’s investigation focused on the cloud security sector, closely linked to cloud infrastructure, and included feedback from customers and rival suppliers. It concluded that there are credible alternative providers for multi-cloud security and that the data Google would access through Wiz is not commercially sensitive. Consequently, the transaction was cleared without conditions. The merger was notified to the Commission on 6 January 2026, following a referral from Google under Article 4(5) of the Merger Regulation, after which no Member States objected.
