On 7 February 2026, Decree No. 2026-60 on the experimentation of games with monetisable digital objects entered into force. The decree was issued pursuant to Articles 40 and 41 of Law No. 2024-449 of 21 May 2024 on securing and regulating the digital space. It requires the refusal of the opening of a player account for any minor. It provides that a player account cannot be opened before verification of the identity and the majority of the applicant. It provides that verification may be carried out by any reliable means that establishes identity and age with a sufficient degree of certainty for the purposes pursued. It requires the enterprise offering a game with monetisable digital objects to document the arrangements used for verification, to carry out regular checks, and to be able to demonstrate the effectiveness and compliance of those arrangements to the National Gaming Authority (ANJ). It requires the opening of the player account to be refused where identity cannot be verified within 30 days of the account opening request.
