On 6 February 2026, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) published a list of typical cases of unfair competition enforcement in the the artificial intelligence sector, including its investigation into Shanghai Entropy Cloud Network Technology Co., Ltd. The case concerned the operation of a WeChat account named “ChatGPT Online” providing paid AI dialogue services while using a highly similar logo and misleading presenting itself as the “Chinese version of ChatGPT”. The SAMR found that the company violated Article 6(4) of the Anti-Unfair Competition Law of the People’s Republic of China (2019 version), ordered it to cease the illegal conduct, and imposed a fine of CNY 62’692.7.
