On 5 February 2026, the European Commission opened a consultation on the draft Implementing Regulation, amending Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2977, (EU) 2024/2979, (EU) 2024/2980, and (EU) 2024/2982 as regards applicable standards and specifications and correcting Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2980, until 5 March 2026. The draft implementing regulation aims to update technical specifications to align with the updated architecture and reference framework, ensuring interoperability between Member States. It introduces a wallet instance attestation to verify the integrity of wallet units and specifies cryptographic mechanisms to be used by wallet providers. The regulation also defines the visual characteristics and technical requirements for the EU Digital Identity Wallet Trust Mark, including specific dimensions and Pantone colours. Wallet providers must integrate this Trust Mark and allow users to verify the certification status of their wallet. Additionally, the Directive mandates the support of privacy-preserving techniques.
