Roskomnadzor sends letter to TikTok demanding explanations for removal of content from RIA Novosti account

On 4 March 2022, the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media of Russia, Roskomnadzor, sent a letter to the social network TikTok demanding it to provide explanations regarding its decision to delete content from the official account of the Russian news agency RIA Novosti. Roskomnadzor claimed that such action represents a violation of the users’ right to unimpeded access to information and noted that from May 2021 it had recorded seven cases of discrimination against official accounts of Russian media.
