Australia: Australian Competition and Consumer Commission accepted undertaking from WiseTech regarding divestment of Expedient

Description

Australian Competition and Consumer Commission accepted undertaking from WiseTech regarding divestment of Expedient

On 5 January 2026, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) accepted a court-enforceable undertaking from WiseTech Global (WiseTech) and its subsidiary BluJay Solutions (Australia) Pty Ltd to divest Expedient following an investigation into the acquisition. The aim of the undertaking is to address competition concerns that the acquisition would substantially lessen competition in the supply of logistics software. WiseTech completed the acquisition on 4 August 2025 before the ACCC could reach a decision, despite being aware of the regulator's concerns. The ACCC identified that WiseTech holds substantial market power and determined that the removal of Expedient as a competitor reduced choice for customers, which could lead to higher prices or lower quality services. Under the terms of the undertaking, given under section 87B of the Competition and Consumer Act, WiseTech is obligated to divest Expedient to a purchaser approved by the ACCC.
