Vietnam: Ministry of Industry and Trade opened consultation on draft Law amending Laws on commerce, competition, foreign trade management, and consumer protection including quality of service requirement

On 21 January 2026, the Ministry of Industry and Trade opened a public consultation until 2 February 2026, on the draft Law amending Laws on commerce, competition, foreign trade management, and consumer protection including quality of service requirement. The draft Law proposes adding a legal definition of counterfeit goods to the Law on Commerce, including criteria relating to use value, quality indicators, technical characteristics, labelling, origin, and packaging. The Ministry stated that the amendment was partially necessitated by the rapid development of e-commerce and social media.
