Vietnam: Ministry of Industry and Trade closed consultation on draft Law amending Laws on commerce, competition, foreign trade management, and consumer protection including competition authority governance

On 2 February 2026, the Ministry of Industry and Trade closed the public consultation, which had been open since 21 January 2026, on the draft Law amending Laws on commerce, competition, foreign trade management, and consumer protection including competition authority governance. The draft Law proposes separating procedures for resolving competition cases under the Law on Competition from procedures for imposing administrative penalties under the Law on handling administrative violations. The aim of the change is to improve the effectiveness of enforcement and clearly set out the legal basis for investigating competition violations.
