European Union: European Data Protection Board announced guidelines on the processing of children’s data

On 28 January 2026, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) announced that it will draft guidelines on the processing of children’s data. The announcement was made in the context of the Strategy for 2024–2027, which includes a commitment to provide guidance on the application of the General Data Protection Regulation to particularly vulnerable data subjects, including children. The strategy presents this guidance as part of broader efforts to enhance harmonisation and promote compliance across the European Economic Area, with a focus on data processing activities that entail heightened risks for vulnerable groups.
