President signed Criminal Law (Miscellaneous Amendments) Act

On 25 November 2025, the President signed the Criminal Law (Miscellaneous Amendments) Act 2025. It expands the definition of “intimate image” under Section 377BE to include AI-generated material, criminalises the non-consensual production of images, and explicitly prohibits computer-generated child sexual abuse material. The Act also amends Section 292 to criminalise online platforms that distribute obscene content and introduces graduated penalties for offences involving materials depicting minors. In addition, it updates the Penal Code 1871, Organised Crime Act 2015, Computer Misuse Act 1993, and Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) Act 1906. Additionally, the Act introduces caning for scams and related offences under Sections 420, 5, 6, 8A, 8B, 39B–39G, 51, and 54, covering conduct such as remote communication fraud, misuse of Singpass credentials, and SIM card-related offences. The Act will come into force on a date appointed by the Minister through a notification in the Gazette.
