Minister for Digital Development and Information directed IMDA to block access to MalaysiaNow for non-compliance with a correction direction under Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act

On 17 November 2025, the Ministry of Digital Development and Information concluded its investigation into MalaysiaNow following continued non-compliance with a Correction Direction under the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act 2019 (POFMA). The Minister directed the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) to issue Access Blocking Orders requiring internet service providers to block end-user access in Singapore to MalaysiaNow’s website, where the falsehoods were published. On the same date, Targeted Correction Directions were issued to Meta Platforms, Inc., LinkedIn Corporation, and X Corp for posts linking to the same article on their platforms. The Directions require these platforms to display correction notices to all end-users in Singapore who accessed or may access the posts.
