The Browser Act of 2021 (S. 113) is introduced in the US Senate. This bill introduces opt-in and opt-out requirements for broadband internet access services, e-commerce services, search engine services and internet subscription services in order to disclose and access user data. To use sensitive data such as financial data, health data and browsing history data, providers are required to introduce explicit user consent approval procedures (opt-in). To use non-sensitive user information, service providers must offer opt-out procedures. Opt-in and opt-out must be possible at any time.
