State Administration for Market Regulation fines Vipshop for unfair competition practices

On 8 February 2021, China's State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) has issued a fine against e-commerce provider Vipshop for unfair competitive practices. According to the SAMR, Vipshop violated the principles of voluntariness, fairness and integrity by obtaining information about sellers who were also active on rival platforms and attempting to pressure them into exclusive use of Vipshop by exposure to customers. The SAMR issued a fine of CNY 3 million.
