China: State Administration for Market Regulation issued action plan to regulate quality and safety of industrial products sold online

On 16 December 2025, the State Administration for Market Regulation and 14 other departments issued the action plan to regulate the quality and safety of industrial products sold online. The plan applies to e-commerce platforms, live-streaming e-commerce operators, and online sellers of industrial products, specifically those linked to frequent complaints and safety risks. It strengthens supervision through stricter product information verification, online monitoring, enhanced spot checks with ranking and disclosure of results, and dedicated oversight systems for live-streaming commerce. The plan also promotes inter-agency data sharing to support platform verification and pilot product code assignment and verification to improve traceability and consumer confidence.
