On 5 January 2026, the Bill amending California Consumer Privacy Act to prohibit the sale or sharing of sensitive personal information to third parties (AB 1542) was introduced to the State Assembly. The Bill would amend the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020, to prohibit businesses, service providers, and contractors from selling or sharing the sensitive personal information of consumers to third parties.
